I purchased a size medium the first time. I am 42:44 in the hips depending on the material, 30 low waist, it has a comfortable stretch to it. The middle was kind of loose I do not have a big butt my stomach is flat. I returned the size medium for a size small. I love the size small for my oversize blazer vibe. Honestly I would rock a size medium as well without the belt and take it up 1 inch
